Zermatt is a car-free resort, making a luxury visit to the Swiss ski resort of Zermatt an unforgettable experience. The Zermatt ski region is easily accessible, with free electric buses connecting all of the main lift stations on the valley bottom. There are also several electric taxis for hiring. Travelling to Zermatt is an adventure in and of itself; guests arrive after a brief trip on the renowned red Zermatt train, which departs from the village of Täsch; the journey is absolutely stunning. From here, you’ll be transported to a winter wonderland, complete with horse-drawn sleighs in the streets of Zermatt village and the renowned Matterhorn as a backdrop.
Skiing in Zermatt
The Matterhorn Ski Paradise, which is accessible via your Zermatt ski pass, is a vast ski area that extends from the Rothorn Paradise (3103m) and Gornergrat (3089m) to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise (Klein Matterhorn, 3883m) and Schwarzsee Paradise (2583m). The Zermatt lift pass also connects you to the Italian ski resort of Breuil-Cervinia, allowing you to ski into Italy for lunch.
Skiing in Zermatt is excellent for a variety of reasons. Zermatt boasts the highest ski resort lift access point in Europe, and the snow conditions there are among the greatest in Europe. The ski region comprises resorts in both Switzerland and Italy. Zermatt is an excellent destination for intermediate skiers, with plenty of superb red run skiing available in the Rothorn region, among other places. Advanced skiers will find enough of difficulties to appreciate. The National, one of the longest black routes in the Alps, descends from the Blauherd almost to resort level and is a thrilling test when skiing Zermatt. There is also the No. 59 piste in Zermatt/Cervinia, which boasts a vertical drop of 250m over a distance of slightly over 750m.

The après-ski in Zermatt Village is difficult to top. Zermatt has over 100 restaurants to select from, as well as dozens of pubs and nightclubs, so there is something for everyone’s Zermatt ski vacation needs.
These restaurants have a diverse menu of high-quality cuisine as well as traditional Swiss, Chinese, Japanese, and Thai dishes. If you want to dine while still on the slopes, Zermatt has more than 50 mountain eateries to choose from.
If you are not a skier in Zermatt or want to do anything other than ski, you have several possibilities. Zermatt village provides a high-quality retail experience. The Bahnhofstrasse area is home to an incredible array of retailers. For entertainment options in Zermatt, explore the Vernissage, which is a cinema, music venue, and nightclub all in one. In addition to a museum and a sports complex, Zermatt has many pools and spa facilities.
