    ALPS SUMMER EVENTS CALENDAR 2022

    JUNE 11th – 12th – Megève Mont-Blanc Cycling

    With four various routes to choose from, the Megève Mont-Blanc race is gaining in popularity year after year. The Gran Fondo 142 km (3950m), the Medio Fondo 117 km (3200m), the Medio Fondo 87 km (2150m), and the Rando 64 km are all options for participants (1570m). Starting and ending in Megève, you will be sure to see some stunning landscapes along the way.

    JUNE 24th – 26th – Pass’portes du Soleil

    Pass’portes du Soleil, which spans eight destinations and two countries, kicks off the summer season with a three-day mountain biking race for riders of all levels. There are 80km of MTB trails available, with 720m of ascent and approximately 6,000m of downhill, all served by 15 lifts. Aside from riding, there is lots to do during the weekend, including the Mountain Bike Show and sampling the various food kiosks dishing up some great local cuisine!

    JUNE 30th – JULY 2nd Arlberg Classic Car Rally

    The Arlberg Vintage Automobile Rally is the ideal summer event in the Alps for classic car lovers. With three courses totaling 600 kilometres and passing through breathtaking alpine scenery, it’s no wonder that this auto rally in Austria is one of the most popular classic vehicle races. You just cannot top seeing magnificent old automobiles running through stunning mountain surroundings, from Jaguars to early BMW models, and Bentleys to VW Beetles.

    JULY 1st– 3rd – MB RACE

    On the trails of Megève and Combloux in 2010, the MB Race was founded! This mountain biking event takes place in the Mont-Blanc and Val d’Arly areas and is known for its hard and magnificent races and courses. The many activities pass through 12 communes: Megève, Combloux, La Giettaz, Flumet, Praz-sur-Arly, Saint-Gervais, Sallanches… and many more.

    Since its beginning, the MB Race has stood out from the rest of the mountain biking scene as the only one to incorporate a one-day race with a record distance of 140 km and 7,000 m of D+! In 2010, only one person completed the MB Ultra Somfy, a race that has become legendary over the years. It is currently considered as the world’s most gruelling mountain bike race!

    JULY 1st – 24th TOUR DE FRANCE

    You may be aware with one of the most famous events in the Alps, the Tour de France; but have you ever considered being there and witnessing it live? Take in the excitement and cheer on the world’s top riders as it goes through four of our summer alpine destinations this year: Chatel, Morzine, Megève, and Alpe d’Huez. Keep an eye out for the Morzine-Megève route.

    Tour de France in the Alps

    JULY 1st – 16th Montreux Jazz Festival

    Montreux Jazz Festival, located less than an hour from Chatel and slightly more than an hour from Verbier, is a fantastic summer day out by the lake, with live Jazz music creating a lovely environment. There is no greater location than Lake Geneva (or Lac Leman) with a mountain backdrop.

    The second Gornergrat Zermatt Marathon

    The Zermatt marathon is one of the most difficult and gruelling marathons in the Alps, covering the deepest valley in Switzerland and more than 1,800 metres of height. A difficult 42km course from St. Niklaus to the Riffelberg at Gornergrat awaits the fittest of the fit. Every first Saturday in July, this event is held.

    JULY 2nd – 3rd – Morzine Spartan Race

    If you don’t want to participate, the Spartan race in Morzine is one of the best summer events in the Alps to watch. Various heats span lengths ranging from 5 to 50 kilometres and include hard terrain and obstacles along the route. This one requires endurance and strength! There is also a race for children aged 4 to 14!

    JULY 15th – 31st – Verbier Festival

    An international classical music festival held each summer in Verbier. The Verbier Festival is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the Alps. Expect a wide range of classical music performed by masters and young stars. The festival, which began in 1994, draws guests from all around the world.

    JULY 23rd – 30th – Chamonix Cosmo Jazz Festival

    The Cosmo Jazz Festival, which takes place in several alpine settings across the Chamonix valley, has a diverse mix of music from great performers. The event is absolutely free and may be experienced from the summit of the Aiguille du Midi through late Cham Jam sessions in town. If you can already hear the mountain echoing the music of jazzy brass bands, you’ll adore this Alps event. View the video.

    AUGUST 1st – 7th – Lounge Festival, Les Gets

    This year, Les Gets, a summer resort turned music festival, organises Lounge Festival as one of their most popular events in the Alps.     A major tournament that attracts over 300 horses and some of Europe’s greatest riders from roughly 20 countries each year. The event village has a lot going on and is a fun event for everyone.

    AUGUST 22nd – 28th – Ultra Trail Mont Blanc, Chamonix

    The UTMB is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most difficult foot events. From start to end, phenomenally fit competitors cover 166 kilometres (103 miles) and climb 9,600 metres in elevation, challenging physical and mental limitations like nothing before. If there is one running event in the Alps that could need some more support from the spectators this year, it may be this one!

    AUGUST 25th – 28th Crans Montana Omega European Masters

    The next event on the list of the top Alps summer events is one of Europe’s most prestigious and popular golf tournaments. This tournament, which has been held at the Crans-Sur-Sierre Golf Club in Crans-Montana since 1939, has seen numerous historical moments. The Omega European Masters is the ideal chance for people who like a golf vacation in the Alps to learn from the actual pros.

    AUGUST 24th–28th Les Gets UCI Mountain Bike World Cup

    Mention a cycling event in France, and the French will undoubtedly appear.
