The resort of Alpe d'Huez is located on a high, sunny plateau at 1850m in the Southern Alps' Grande Rousses region. Alpe d'Huez is well-known for its sunny weather, and it has a superb lift system with ample skiing for all skill levels. Because of its height, Alpe d'Huez has excellent snow conditions, and it is topped by a glacier that contains several lengthy black slopes that go back to the ski resort. The Alpe d'Huez ski area is deceptively steep in places, although there are wide, soft nursery slopes adjacent to the resort.
