Luxury ski chalets to rent in St. Christoph
St Christoph is one of the highest ski resorts in the Alps at 1,800 m above sea level, made famous in the 14th century when shepherd Heinrich Findelkind built a hospice to shelter travelers from harsh conditions. St Christoph is situated between St Anton and Zurs, and provides some of the finest skiing in the country. In the heart of the Tyrolean mountains, traditional wooden housing makes for a cozy, picturesque atmosphere-the ideal backdrop for a pleasant, relaxing family vacation.
180 km of off-piste terrain opens up a never-ending world of exciting adventures. The options are limitless with an array of fantastic bowls and chutes around Stuben and Rendl, as well as the world-renowned nearby St Anton sand, and with the aid of a guide you will go to the very top of the daunting Valluga. There’s plenty on offer for those who want to take things a little easier, including the world-class Ski School Arlberg tuition.
With many of St Christoph ‘s luxurious chalets being ski-in ski-out, or at most a fast walk from the main lift, shouldering large skis isn’t an issue in this area. A plurality of restaurants, many with a chic Tyrolean brush, deliver the ultimate fine dining experience. One such restaurant, the Hospiz Alm Chalet is recommended particularly for its spectacular wine cellar, accessible by a slide. Although St Christoph offers a more refined, relaxed nightlife compared to its infamous neighbor, St Anton is no more than a 15-minute drive away, so the option is also readily available to let your hair down.
St Christoph, established relative of St Anton as it were, is host to the recently designed Arlberg1800 and concert hall. A gastronomic feast accompanied by an evening of beautiful classical music is easily on the cards in this quaint town and there is also the chance for every art lover to visit the incredible underground gallery connected with the Arlberg Hospiz Hotel.
