Renting a luxury villa and exploring Ibiza island’s secret gems is the perfect way to explore while creating rare and memorable memories. Explore secluded coves, look for wild orchids in almond groves, and walk around whitewashed hamlets that exude a serene allure.

Ibiza has won the title of European party capital, with world-famous clubs welcoming all who sleep all morning, siesta in the sun, and then dance the night away. However, Ibiza is far from a one-trick pony. This island is much more than just a party destination; it also has some of the most renowned sailing grounds, thanks to consistent easterly winds and a fantastic range of marinas and anchorages open to visiting yachts.

Golden beaches of Ibiza

With a coastline of more than 200 kilometers and endless big, golden beaches with shallow water, it’s no surprise that this is a popular destination for young families. It is simple to navigate tiny bays, often totally deserted, from a yacht that would otherwise be inaccessible or unseen from the twisting country roads. Go to the more famous beaches to take a relaxing windsurfing, kayaking, or paddle boarding lesson; after the exercises are completed, go back and relax on the terrace of your villa for a well-deserved siesta. Inland cycling and hiking trails wind through the various olive and carob plants, which are surrounded by ancient stone walls. Natural nature abounds, as does rich heritage, most of which can still be found in the quiet cobblestone streets of Eivissa, where the long-distance views from the medieval castle at the top of Dalt Vila are very spectacular.

Sunrise over Es Vedra, the famed 400m high rock soaring up from the sea that dominates Ibiza’s west coast, is one of the island’s most magical sights. Torre des Savinar, an 18th century defense tower directly overlooking Es Vedra and its little sister, Es Vedranell – said to resemble the pointed backbone of a sleeping dragon! Surrounded by an undeniable air of mystery, stories of strange aerial aircraft and unexplained magnetic fields have frightened local fishermen, who continue to avoid the rock.

National parks of Ibiza

The southern area is rich in ecological interest, with the protected reserve Las Salinas National Park extending 6 kilometers to the neighboring island of Formentera. Divers are drawn to the park by the extraordinarily rich aquatic life, but it also has shimmering salt pans and silky lakes where peregrine falcons and flamingos stop on their way to Africa. The cool, smooth waters are ideal for a leisurely kayak trip from Es Torrent. Paddling east, the ochre-colored cliffs are topped with gleaming glass-fronted mansions, and the Porroig peninsula is a popular place for yachts to moor in the sheltered sea.

If you’re hunting for heaven during your vacation in Ibiza, the enchanted cove of Sol d’en Serra is a near second. The pebbly beach here, located in the northwestern area, is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views of the nearby cliffs that tumble to touch the Mediterranean Sea. Enjoy a breathtaking sunrise as early morning yoga practitioners exercise on the beach and snorkelers spend hours exploring the crystalline waters. The breathtaking backdrop and intimate scale make this a very unique spot indeed, feeling very much like an out-of-place millionaire’s private beachfront. It’s a sight you have to see to believe. Spend the evening to sample the culinary delights of Amante Beach Club, which features sensational lighting that highlights the setting in stunning fashion.

Ibiza has deep cultural origins dating back to the early 1960s, when painters and artists flocked to the island for its unique atmosphere, fantastic light, and freedom of speech. Today’s hippy markets are a colorful relic of that era, offering the chance to buy handicrafts or souvenirs, eat a local meal, and listen to live music.

Las Dalias’ night market is teeming with activity, and specialties such as hand-made jewelry are prominent. During the day, Punta Arabi’s oldest and largest market is bustling with activity, set amid pine trees and whitewashed buildings. For a more authentic experience, go north to the quaint San Miguel artisan evening market, which is a family affair and often includes a performance of ball pagès, the popular Ibizan folk dance.

Each of the Balearic Islands has its own distinct personality, and character-packed Ibiza is unquestionably the island of choice. If you’re looking for seclusion in a get-away-from-it-all getaway, the bustle of superb waterfront restaurants serving local fare, or big, velvet beaches for family fun, the white isle definitely delivers. It’s no surprise that this remarkable island continues to be a favorite of our guests year after year.
