Backstage Chalet is located in a quiet residential area of Zermatt, close to the city centre and the ski lifts. Operated by the exclusive Backstage Hotel, this striking property started life as a typical Valais house in the 1940s, until it was modernised and expanded by Heinz Julen. Built from local larch, the chalet has been designed to incorporate large areas of glass, offering stunning 360-degree views of the village and the Matterhorn. This 320 m2 chalet will accommodate ten adults and one child in five double bedrooms, plus a loft space.
Combining heritage with new elegance, the chalet is timeless and comfortable. With its open gables, the roof construction offers an open plan living, dining, and kitchen area, complete with a fireplace and cowhide and leather sofas.
Relaxation and fun are taken seriously at Backstage Chalet. The highlight is the magnificent whirlpool, which seats up to 6 guests, and slowly glides up a steel shaft from the lounge and through the retractable glass panels to the roof, where there are amazing views to appreciate. The chalet also has a sauna, a gym and a private home theatre. A ski room with a heated boot heater ensures you get a comfortable start to your day of skiing.
Five double bedrooms are divided between the second and third floors. One of the bedrooms has a loft mezzanine level with a single bed, which is suitable for babies. All rooms have en-suite amenities, TVs and balconies.
Prices are based on a self-catered basis service, except for the Christmas and New Year weeks that are quoted on a full catered basis with private chalet staff.
