The entrance to Villa Coco is the sort you're going to take your shoes off before you get in. You may have stopped at the fish market in the nearby village of Lorient, so you're heading for the kitchen. Or maybe you're only back in the afternoon at Saline Beach, preparing for a relaxing swim in the nautilus-shaped tub. Drop the flip-flops at the entrance, either way; you won't need them anymore.
Get off the stairs to the deck and enjoy the vast view of Lorient Bay and the islands below, and far out on the next headland to the west, the picturesque remains of the Autour du Rocher, the famous hotel and nightspot of Jimmy Buffet in the 1980s. A few steps to your left and you're in a new, comfortable and professionally fitted kitchen. Villa Coco's kitchen opens straight into a spacious living space with a flat-screen TV and a dining area with a seating area for ten. But if you're looking for the best viewing point to rest and watch the sunset, turn right and you'll find a cushioned alcove with a beautiful view, surrounded by casual seats for eight, if you feel like enjoying the moment. Extending to the edge of the grounds, a green lawn welcomes you to move out one of the deck chairs under the branches of the coconut trees.
On the left side of the living/dining area, you can enter one of the bedrooms of Villa Coco. Just a few steps from the pool, it is furnished in a tidy, refurbished Caribbean theme, complete with king-size beds, en-suite bathrooms, wood-beamed windows and doors, and spacious closet space. A walkway connects to the steps that take you to the bedroom downstairs, with its own private Jacuzzi, shady alcove and outdoor seating. This third bedroom has a distinctive design: an integrated en-suite bathroom with dual vanities and a rain-head tub, and a walk-in closet. Steps away you can discover a well-equipped exercise space with a Technogym weight system, plus a treadmill, a bicycle and a rowing machine and, of course, an exceptional view of the water. The exterior terrace is well secluded for private yoga classes or soothing massages.
In the well-established but little-known hillside area of Camaruche, Villa Coco will charm you with its stunning view and thoughtful nature.
