    2023 Alps summer events calendar

    Summer activities in the Alps are officially returning in 2023!

    There is plenty for everyone to get involved in, from seeing the hardest compete in incredible trail marathons to finding your groove at the various music events. So, why not combine your summer mountain vacation with one of these must-see Alps summer events in 2023? The magnificent mountains are distinctive to all Alps events and contribute to each one being a wonderful experience for your summer vacations.     JUNE 2023

    JUNE 10th – 11th MONT-BLANC MEGEVE

    With four various routes to choose from, this Alps cycling race is gaining in popularity year after year. In this new-style 2023 edition, participants may choose from three distinct tests, including ‘The Original – Cyclo (80km, 105km, 135km), ‘The Adventurer – Gravel’ (75km), ‘The Phenomenal – Cyclo & Gravel’ (180km), and even ‘The Bambini – Kids’ events. Starting and ending in Megeve, you will be sure to see some stunning landscapes along the way.

    JUNE 23rd – 25th – PASS’PORTES DU SOLEIL

    Pass’portes du Soleil, which spans eight locations and two countries, kicks off the summer season with a three-day mountain biking race for all levels. There are 80km of MTB trails available, with 720m of ascent and over 5,700m of descent supported by 13 lifts. Aside from riding, there is plenty to do over the weekend, including the Mountain Bike Show and sampling the many food stations serving up some spectacular local cuisine!

    JUNE 25th ALPE D’HUEZ – LEPAPE MARMOTTE ALPS

    Nothing less than a 177-kilometer endurance ride from Bourg d’Oisans to Alpe d’Huez. This cycling race in the Alps is undoubtedly one to be admired by those who participate, with several Cols to cross and culminating with the famed 21 bends up to Alpe d’Huez.

    JUNE 29th – JULY 1st – ARLBERG CLASSIC CAR RALLY

    The Arlberg vintage automobile Rally is the ideal summer event in the Alps for vintage automobile lovers. With three courses totaling 600 km and passing through breathtaking alpine scenery, it’s no wonder that this auto rally in Austria is one of the most popular classic vehicle races. You just cannot top seeing magnificent old automobiles running through stunning mountain surroundings, from Jaguars to early BMW models, and Bentleys to VW Beetles.

    JUNE 30th – JULY 15th– MONTREUX JAZZ FESTIVAL

    Montreux Jazz Festival, located less than an hour from Chatel and slightly more than an hour from Verbier, is a fantastic summer day out by the lake, with live Jazz music creating a lovely environment. There is no greater location than Lake Geneva (or Lac Leman) with a mountain backdrop. View the video.

    JULY 1st – 23rd – LE TOUR DE FRANCE

    You may be aware with one of the most famous events in the Alps, the Tour de France; but have you ever considered being there and witnessing it live? Take in the atmosphere and cheer on the world’s top cyclists as it travels through a number of our summer alpine destinations this year, including Samoens, Morzine, Les Gets, Saint-Gervais, Megève, and Méribel.     JULY 1st –GORNERGRAT ZERMATT MARATHON

    The Zermatt marathon is one of the most tough and demanding in the Alps, crossing the deepest valley in Switzerland and more than 1,800 m in elevation. The fittest of the fit will face a challenging 42km race from St. Niklaus to the Riffelberg at Gornergrat. Every first Saturday in July, this event is held.

    JULY 1st – MORZINE – SPARTAN RACE

    The Spartan race in Morzine is one of the best summer events in the Alps to watch, as it is quite spectacular. Various heats cover distances ranging from 5 to 50 km and include challenging terrain and obstacles along the way. This one requires endurance and strength! Children of the age of 4 to 14 can also compete!

    JULY 2023

    JULY 14th -30th – VERBIER FESTIVAL

    Every summer, an international classical music festival is held in Verbier, one of the most popular Alps tourist locations. Expect a diverse selection of classical music performed by masters and rising stars. The event, which began in 1994, attracts visitors from all around the world. View the video.

    JULY 22nd -29th – CHAMONIX COSMO JAZZ FESTIVAL

    The Cosmo Jazz Festival, held in several alpine locations across the Chamonix valley, has a wide mix of music from notable artists. It is free entrance for the event and you may enjoy events from the Aiguille du Midi top to late Cham Jam sessions in town. You’ll love this Alps event if you can already hear the mountain echoing the melody of jazzy brass bands. View the video.

    JULY 31st – AUGUST 6th – LECH CLASSICAL FESTIVAL

    In a stunning alpine environment, music meets culture. The Classical Festival, one of Lech’s highlights, encircles the mountains and valleys with rhythms and beats provided by world-class orchestras, musicians, and singers. View the video.

    AUGUST 20th – 29th – MEGEVE & THE DOLOMITES, HAUTE ROUTE

    The Haute Route races in the Alps include some of the most breathtaking alpine scenery you can see on two wheels. This year, we focus on two unique routes in Megève (755km) and The Dolomites (450km) occuring in late August, which take in legendary climbs, difficult alpine road inclines, mediaeval communities, and magnificent valley bottoms. There will also be an early Haute tour in Crans Montana, a 3-day tour from June 9th to June 11th, 2023. Despite the fact that it is a difficult bike in the Alps, cyclists are likely to fully appreciate each route, which includes lots of stunning scenery along the way. View the video.

    AUGUST 28th – SEPTEMBER 3rd – MONT BLANC ULTRA TRAIL

    The UTMB is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most difficult foot events. From start to end, extremely fit competitors cover 166 km (103 miles) and acquire 9,600 m in elevation, challenging physical and mental limitations like nothing before. The UTMB is the event of the year in Chamonix that is not to be missed! View the video.

    AUGUST 31st – SEPTEMBER 2nd – MONT BLANC RALLYE

    The Mont Blanc Rally, which has been held in Morzine for over 20 years, attracts tourists from all across France and Europe. In a dash to the finish line, watch the rally drivers slip around tight alpine corners and churn up dirt tracks at full speed. It’s one of France’s oldest ongoing rallies, and it’s definitely worth a visit! View the video.

    AUGUST 31st – SEPTEMBER 3rd – CRANS MONTANA OMEGA EUROPEAN MASTERS

    The next event on the list of the top Alps summer events is one of Europe’s most prestigious and popular golf tournaments. Since its inception in 1939 at the Crans-Sur-Sierre Golf Club in Crans-Montana, this event has witnessed countless historical occasions. The Omega European Masters is an excellent opportunity for anyone who like a golf vacation in the Alps to learn from the experts.

    SEPTEMBER 2023

    SEPTEMBER 2nd – ZERMATT MATTERHORN EAGLE CUP

    You’d be hard pressed to find a more picturesque golf event in the Alps than this one at the foot of the Matterhorn. Precision is essential in this Zermatt event, as shots are taken between 1,400 and 2,800m on difficult terrain.

    SEPTEMBER 7th TO 17th – THE UCI MOUNTAIN BIKE WORLD CUP

    When you mention a bicycle event in France, the French will almost always arrive. It’s a fantastic environment to be in, with racers striving to win on home soil and French supporters carrying the crowd noise (particularly if you’re French!). In any case, the Mountain Bike World Cup is an event in the Alps that no country should miss. Observe the experts as they traverse the mountains, tackle difficult ascents, and hurtle downhill at speeds you’d never dream of.
