Verbier winter wonderland
Winter vacations entail a stay in the mountains. Why not at one of Switzerland’s youngest and most athletic resorts? Discover Verbier, the temple of freeriding and elegance, one of Lodge Destinations’s favourite alpine places.
where is verbier
Verbier is located in the south-west region of Bagnes in Canton Valais. The village is situated at an altitude of 1,500m, providing spectacular views of both Mont Blanc and Le Grand Combin. Bordered by France to the west and Italy to the south, the village can be accessed by road or by train to Le Chable.
Travelling by train is definitely an alternative, and from December to April you can get on the latest Eurostar Swiss ski train in the UK at St Pancras International to get to the Swiss Alps at 186 mph, with a smooth change at Lille en route. The Eurostar will take you to Geneva where you can take the St Bernard Express to Martigny or Le Chable and take a cab for the remaining 27km to Verbier.
If you wish to drive, Verbier is easily accessible at just a two-hour drive from Geneva airport. We can arrange private airport transfers for you, from the airport to your chalet or apartment.

Ready to host thousands of guests every year, Savoleyres and the Swedish Quarter are the most prestigious and private places to stay in the resort, while Place Centrale is the place to be if you’re trying to be at the center of the action. The portal to the 4 Valleys, Verbier is linked to the slopes of Thyon, Nendaz and Veysonnaz, providing access to 410 km of ski tracks.

Dog-sleighing
Explore the frosty environment while sitting comfortably in a sledge and behind a bunch of huskies. Wind your way across the snowy trails, guided by a skilled musher. There are various trails to select from in Verbier, but we recommend taking the panoramic tour for the greatest views of the stunning winter landscapes.

The best ski slopes in Verbier
Verbier has two main lifts, Medran and Savoleyres. Find out more about their slopes here!
The Medran slopes
Medran is Verbier’s major ski lift, which takes you to several of the greatest slopes and restaurants. This is known as the “Verbier side,” from which you can access the famed 4 Vallées and the highest summit, Mont Fort, which provides a breathtaking perspective. The Verbier side also includes the Snow Park, a speed skiing sprint track, and the Ski Cross track, both of which are located near La Chaux.
Savoleyres slopes
The other main lift is located on the “Savoleyres side.” Here, the slopes are more family-friendly, particularly the Funpark circuit for kids. You’ll also discover a tobogganing hill where you can slide down a 700-metre plunge!
Looking for a place to start? Check out some of our best slopes, including:
– Lac des Vaux: On the Verbier side, pick between two blue routes by a frozen lake.
– Fontanet: Hidden on the Verbier side, this excellent and broad red run is often more private.
– Gentianes to La Chaux: Enjoy the step and high altitude of the red run on the Verbier side.
– Tortin: This incredibly demanding yellow run is ideal for elite skiers seeking a challenge and moguls.
– Le Nord: On the Savoleyres side, this long and broad blue run is ideal for families.
