Luxury ski chalets to rent in Zermatt

As Zermatt, a few ski resorts are able to combine great skiing, good snow, wonderful scenery, beautiful restaurants in the Mountains and luxurious ski chalets in a Zermatt mix. The charming car-free community, stretching along both sides of the river, maintains its traditional appeal while making way for more modern buildings and amenities. The busy main street is bordered by hotels, restaurants and glitzy stores, while electric taxis and horse-drawn carriages take tourists around the resort.

Zermatt has a vast ski area of 200 kilometers of ski slopes split into four fields. A cable car to Sunnegga and a hidden cable car to Rothorn via Blauherd are reached. Visitors to the second main location, the Gornergrat, are transited by a cog railway from the village center, providing some of Switzerland’s finest views at a height of 3089 meters. The Matterhorn Express is situated on the south end of the town, a gondola for skiers to Schwarzsee and the fourth location at the Trockener Steg and Matterhorn.

Zermatt is ideally suited for daring intermediates skiers, whereas Wolli’s Park is suitable for newcomers, kids. The resort offers a wide range of off-piste runs for all capacity, and heli-skiing is a popular solution if the runs reached by the lift system are not enough. The mountains can be taken up by the cable car, or by snowshoeing from a skiing chalet. For lunch, the skiers can pause for a direct ride to one of the popular resort’s mountain restaurants before heading to the city or the Matterhorn Museum. Zermatt has several excellent mountain restaurants.

The resort provides an almost infinite range of activities, competitions and festivals and will not leave tourists without entertainment. This festival involves the Zermatt Unplugged, the Curling Championship Horu Cup, Zermatt Fashion Week and the famous ski mountaineering series, the Patrouille des Glaciers.
