The peaceful village of Courchevel 1550 is located directly below its chic and elegant neighbor Courchevel 1850 and is ideal for a fun-filled family vacation in Les 3 Vallées. Once a little bit of a backwater, in recent years, the resort has seen a lot of growth and development with an influx of new luxury chalets being constructed to meet the increasing demand.
A calm, relaxing place away from the loud bars and nightclubs, Courchevel 1550 is particularly popular with families. A mix of traditional chalet-style buildings, large modern hotels, and self-catering apartments stretch along the main roads of the village. There are several excellent restaurants and a few bars, but if you want to be at the center of the nighttime action you’ll have to go up the mountain to Courchevel 1850. A food and clothing market arrives at the village once a week where you can pick up lots of delicious delicacies, from cheese to cured meats and preserves.
With two lifts linked to Courchevel 1850 the main ski areas and the vast expanse of Les 3 Vallées are easily accessible from the village. The combination of the high altitude Courchevel, mostly north-facing slopes and abundant snowmaking provides some of the most reliable skiing conditions in the Alps. There is more than enough terrain with 600 km of slopes to explore to satisfy skiers of all abilities. Courchevel 1550 has a small nursery area and plenty of fantastic long runs to progress to and there’s plenty of challenging off-piste skiing for experts of interest.
Off the mountains, Courchevel has plenty to keep tourists busy from an exciting downhill toboggan from 1850 to 1550, to the recently built Aquamotion aquatic and spa facility. With indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a fitness center, climbing wall, indoor surf wave and a luxurious spa offering treatments, there is something here for everyone to enjoy.
