While some ski resorts are opening soon, what better way to make the most of this ski season than to catch up on what’s new in the Alps ski resorts for 2022-2023? Take a look at the latest additions to many of our best ski resorts for the next winter season, from new restaurants and ski slopes to experiences and events.

What’s New in the Alps Ski Resorts for 2022-2023

New lifts and ski areas are planned for 2022/2023

For the 2022/23 winter season, the funicular that connects Sierre to Crans Montana (which dates back to 1911) has been renovated. The fresh new funicular, which is almost 4 km long and takes 12 minutes at an 8 m/second pace, will open on December 12, 2022.

Verbier’s infrastructure has also been upgraded, with the Pasay chairlift in Bruson being replaced with a six-seater chair with bubble, cutting the travel time from 11 minutes to less than five.

Verbier features a fresh new specialised racing section at the summit of the La Tzoumas – Savoleyres sector for the fastest skiers in the group. The race track contains a permanent timing system and a 15-gate giant slalom.

The ski domain’s leisure amenities in Morzine have been renovated. Adrenaline junkies may participate in the XL edition of boardercross, which will have a new starting point from the Raverettes chairlift. New modules, rails, and jumps have been added to the snow park, which has been renovated and expanded. Non-skiers may also enjoy the slopes after the ski lifts have closed for the day by riding the piste basher to the upper slopes of the ski area. Relax with mulled wine around the fire, followed by a lunch of Savoyard tartiflette in a traditional yurt, followed by a thrilling descent by sled, complete with a headlamp, to the village’s glittering lights.

Val Thorens will open two new areas this year for youngsters and novices, as well as their families, to practise and grow while having fun. This winter, a brand-new Snow Tubing route will open for some fun after a day on the slopes.
